Boot Care Tips

Boot season is officially here!  Let’s go over some tips and tricks on how to make your favorite footwear last through the season! Whether it be rain, sleet, or snow these tips should keep your boots looking brand new!

1. Protect your boots with a silicone base water repellent.  I love the Kiwi Heavy Duty Water Repellent.  The silicone formula provides a tough barrier and will not change the color or texture of the fabric. The water will just run off your boots/shoes and will increase the life of them exponentially!   It may smell a bit, but I just let mine air out for a day after spraying, and by that time the smell is gone.

2. Moisturize/Condition your leather.  After researching this for quite some time the same brand kept coming up, Leather Honey Leather Conditioner.  It has been around since 1968 and has amazing reviews. I am definitely going to try this brand out!  Whatever brand you end up choosing will preserve the shine and make the leather last longer!

3. You will need a Suede Brush and Suede Eraser for those Suede boots!  They are a must have! The eraser will get rid of the shiny spots on the suede and the brush will be used to brush off the dustings and rebuff the suede.  Here is one I found on Amazon with great reviews!

4. Caring for your boots can be done with everyday at home products which makes it very easy.  For Salt Stains, you can use equal parts water and white vinegar.  Just wipe softly with a soft cloth.  For Cleaning, you can use a mild dish soap and water.  For Scuffs, I use equal parts baking soda and Water.

5. If your Hunter Rain Boots are “blooming” just use some olive oil and a microfiber cloth. If you just want to clean them, using cold water and mild soap works great!  For more on what to expect when buying Hunter’s click here!

6. Get a Boot Shaper!  This will help uphold the shape of the boots, year after year! These Booti Boot Shapers are the best in my opinion, and so affordable!  For a cheap trick, use pool noodles.  They work really well!

7. Where you store your boots is very important.  Making sure you keep them at room temperature and away from direct sunlight will extend the life of your boots. I generally keep all of my shoe boxes and store them there when not wearing.

FUN TIP – If your leather laces always come undone, keep them tied by sprinkling a few drops of water on the knot.

I thought this was a great graphic that King Ranch Saddle Shop created! King Ranch specializes in fine leather goods, including their leather cowboy boots for men and cowgirl boots for ladies! Print it out as a reminder for how to easily care for your boots!

My brunch outfit consisted of a cozy sweater and my favorite heels at the moment! Perfect combination of cute and comfy! It was such a beautiful day, lately the weather has been non-stop rain and I’m not ready for it! I want fall weather not winter weather!

A few months ago I met with a fashion blogger, Jacqueline Valle who had just moved here from L.A and we hit it off! We have been meeting for brunch once a month ever since! She’s recently a fashion blogger turned food blogger specializing mainly in brunch, her blog is, Brunchinista, so cute!

She is seriously a brunch expert! It’s been such a great experience for me because it’s giving me the opportunity to try new places and dishes! I’ve lived in the Eugene area for eight years, and haven’t been to half of the places we’ve brunched at! I always get something sweet for brunch, waffles, pancakes, french toast, etc. I went totally out of my comfort zone and got eggs benedict! I was proud of myself, but really missed basically having dessert for breakfast. 🙁

Our brunch spot was in the 5th street market, they have so many cool shops there! We went into the Will’s Leather Goods store and I was in heaven! The smell was perfection! Even their business cards were leather!

My OTK boots are on sale!  Please check out my last Blog post for more information!

Thanks for stopping by!

I don’t wear a lot of bright pinks, but I could wear this blush/dusty pink everyday! I love the sleeves on this blush floral dress! They gather at the elbow and at the wrist, but they are wide around the forearm and bicep area. The double ruffle hem is so feminine and cute too! These leather gray OTK boots were an Nsale purchase and I’m obsessed with them! They aren’t tight around the leg, but they aren’t too loose either.

Is everyone excited for Halloween?! I’m kinda disappointed in myself because I’ve only watched Hocus Pocus once, it’s my favorite Halloween movie so I try to watch it at least ten times in the month of October. We went to Detering Orchards (local farm here in Oregon) last week to pick a pumpkin. This was the first year Porter could really get excited about picking a pumpkin, so it was so much fun!

Last month my friend started a book club, and our first book was All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr, it was so good! This month we are reading, In The Unlikely Event by Judy Blume. Reading has been my favorite hobby for as long as I can remember. Judy Blume was one of my favorite authors as a child, I literally read every book she wrote.  I’m really excited to read her new book!

Would love to hear about the books you love in the comments section!

FLARE JEANS ARE BACK

It’s been nothing but skinny jeans for years now, but I’m happy to report that flare jeans are back in style! For me, I think flares only work for the fall season since once winter hits, it’s all about trying to keep the bottom of your jeans off of the ground. I know it can be hard trying to figure out how to make a new trend work for you. Especially one that has been out of style for awhile, but there is nothing easier than pairing flare jeans with a fall sweater and trendy pumps. I think it’s hard for people to picture flare jeans without thinking of an episode from That 70’s Show, lol (Such a great show!)

My blogger friend Jacqueline, of the fabulous blog Brunchinista, and I have been meeting for brunch at least once a month and today we tried Membrillo Latin Kitchen in Eugene and it was so so good! It you are in Eugene, check it out! I got the hazelnut pancakes, ohhh so good!

Porter started Pre-School and he hates it as much as I thought he would! He’s been going for almost a month and today was the first day he didn’t cry! We are making progress! When I picked him up today, he said, “I had a good day!” 🙂

Hope everyone is getting used to this Fall weather!  Let the pumpkins, costumes, candy, good food, and scarf season begin!
