I’ve really been longing for spring lately. I don’t know if it’s the after Christmas slumps, or the cold gloomy weather, or both!  When I got this cape from Trunk-Up Boutique in the mail and put it on, my somber feelings about the weather completely went out the window!!

I was so comfortable and warm without having to put on a ton of layers. I was so happy the weather will be cool enough so I can continually wear this cape, because I love it THAT much! I’m even more in love with the color than I thought I would be! It’s kind of an olive/yellow with specks of all different colors! You can’t really see in the photos, but it has the cutest button up detail along the neck too! This is the second item I’ve gotten from Trunk-Up and I love their company! Go check them out!

Trunk-Up has graciously offered to give away this exact same cape to one of my followers on Instagram.  All you have to do is follow me and Trunk-Up Boutique and like the latest Giveaway picture on IG.  Winner will be announced soon! Update:  Congratulations Missmazariegos for winning the Cape!  I hope you love it!!

Porter and I had a little mommy/son day date to go see “tractor in the sky.” (Huge crane that is being used to build a new hotel) We got some Starbucks (chocolate milk for him), yummy treats, and he sat and watched in awe. I’m really loving this age! He’s talking so much more, asking questions, arguing (lots of fun) 🙂

It’s John’s birthday on Sunday and my brothers birthday on Monday! Excited to spend some time with my guys!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

BLACK AND WHITE STRIPED DRESS

When I saw this black and white striped dress I just had to have it! I’m such a sucker for stripes and this is a dress I can wear into spring! I bought a medium because I wanted it a little big and I didn’t want it to be too short! I think a small would have been perfectly fine though! Now I want every black and white striped dress I see in every style and cut! This was the first non-rainy day in so long and I was sooooo happy to see the sun! This dreary weather has really been wearing on me!

On the plus side I have been getting a ton of wear out of my Hunter boots, it’s all I’ve been reaching for! They are a must have in this PNW weather! If you are thinking of buying a pair check out my What to know before buying Hunter Boots post!

John surprised me last weekend with tickets to go see The Revenant- It was so good! I’m a huge movie lover and from the moment I saw ‘What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?’ I was an instant Leo fan! I recommend it for sure if you can handle gory movies!

We had our first ever all night throwing up sickness with Porter last night 🙁 We knew it was only a matter of time. Thank God he was only sick one night because it was awful to see my baby so sick! He’s back to his good 0l’ self asking for cake pops and trips to go see “tractor in the sky!’

Hope everyone is enjoying 2016 so far!!

I love the casual layering look of a collared button up under a sweater! Combining two of my favorite winter staples to make a clean put together look is such an easy go to outfit! I was even warm enough to not have to wear a coat! On a side note – I never want to put this amazing tote down. So, if you see me with it way to much, don’t judge!

John and I went out to pick up some new rugs for the front and back doors of the house (big time adults here)! Of course, we went to Target. Porter has to look at toys every time we go! He always asks, “Look at toys?” He has to go up and down every isle and usually doesn’t say a word until he finds one he wants and yells out, “OK Momma!!” He’s so funny! I’ve been taking him to open gym at a gymnastics place in Eugene and he loves it! He doesn’t really ever get to play or interact with kids his age so I’ve really been trying to take him to do things where he can be around other kids. I think it’s good for the both of us, because if I had it my way he would only hang out with me. 🙂

Hope everyone’s week gets off to a great start!

HOLIDAY PARTY LOOK – SEQUIN SKIRT

SEQUIN SKIRT

This month has just flown by! I can’t believe Christmas is 9 days away! I wish it was longer, I have so many Christmas movies I still want to watch! I know I’m going to mourn the end of the holidays for a whole week when it’s over. The hubby and I watched Home Alone 2 tonight, I’ve seen it so many times yet it never gets old! I’ve never gotten sick of re-watching movies I love! When I was a kid my siblings and I watched our favorite movies over and over and over again. I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve seen Dumb and Dumber.

I’ve really been pushing the Christmas music on Porter this year. I try and make it seem really cool and fun in my most excited voice like, “Don’t you want to listen to Christmas music?!!!?” It’s definitely working.

Adding a sequin piece to an outfit is the easiest way to create a chic yet festive look.

A sequin skirt like this is perfect if you want to keep the sparkle subtle instead of going all out. It would be great for any Christmas parties and even for a New Years Eve party! You can amp up the fancy by changing the top, shoes, or bag too! Opting for a light flirty top will transform this outfit into party mode!

What is your favorite item to wear for the holidays?
